If we single-pointedly practice great compassion, then, with little effort, we will be able to gain all other virtues.-Geshe Namgyal Wangchen, “Awakening the Mind”
So true and so tough. I am getting better at letting go of being right in favor of peace, respect and valuing others. But it is really hard at times.
I can remember one time when I ushered a tantruming man and two very old people onto a tram in Denver. The man did not want to enter the tram because I was “reading” the map wrong in his eyes. The old people were tired, really tired and there wasn’t enough time to allow him to be right because we would still be standing in that subterranean waiting area unless of course we walked miles.
That always comes to my mind as a moment when I was trapped. Had he and I been alone, I would have let his superior knowledge of travel and airports lead us wherever it did. But we weren’t.
So I know there are times when you just have to step on the tram and be right, but am thankful they are not the norm. Have you identified what you can let pass as not important tomorrow or even in an hour and what is important enough to risk your peace?
May Love enfold you as you grow in that awareness.
Namaste`

Writing, not an auspicious start, but a start. It will get there!!! I’m getting better at not yelling at idiot drivers – I just assume they’re having a bad day! My car can be a lethal weapon – I choose not to use it as such. (OK, not deep philosophy here.)
