  • In the valley, on the mountain, I beheld only God.
In hardship I saw Him by my side.
In ease and well-being I beheld only God.
Like a candle I melted in His flame.
Amid the sparks of the flames,
    I beheld only God.

  • You said, “Sit properly!”
    To some particular soul,
    Someone needing firmness,
    A reminder of the goal.
    You said, “Sit properly!”
    Addressing one’s poor posture,
    Concern for his body,
Ill health that it will foster.
    You said, “Sit properly!”
    And so assertively
    It came, with much compassion,
    While spoken seriously.
    You said, “Sit properly!”
At a wee hour in the morn’.
It applies to all the day, though,
    Whether happy or forlorn.
    You said, “Sit properly!”
    And said it only once,
    Burst the dreamy bubble
    As though a wake-up punch.
    You said, “Sit properly!”
    Meaning “give full attention,”
    Aware of all our actions
    It’s important that you mention.
    You said, “Sit properly!”
Be straight in all we do.
    Duplicity is rotten,
    Two-face is a taboo.
    You said, “Sit properly!”
At the time when we do chant,
    Lips and tongue in motion,
    Never say, “We can’t.”

an old Vedic philsopher was quoted in effect to having said. “if one wishes to accomplish something, he should show no mercy”.  mercy is an adverb to action which acceptance, if it is one of action’s fruits only ruins the one who both makes it and eats it….better to be steadfast and in further motion..
